How to Make the Most Out of Facebook and Instagram Insights

Being a successful content creator is not just about making attractive posts. A huge part of managing your account is paying attention to its analytics. Thankfully, content creators on Instagram and Facebook have access to a special tool that can provide valuable information called Facebook and Instagram Insights.

Let’s take a look at how to make the most of them.

What are Facebook and Instagram insights, and why do you need them?

If you are using a business account on Instagram (as you should), you may have noticed you have access to a built-in feature – Instagram insights. With their help, you can see all analytics on how well your posts are doing.

Moreover, Instagram insights also showcase how many followers have joined you and what kind of content your audience loves the most. The same goes for Facebook – owners of a business page can look deeper into their page’s performance.

Pay attention to your growth

Regardless of whether you are building an account or a page for yourself or your company, it is important to pay attention to your metrics and how they are growing month after month. Only this way can you track your progress for replies, followers, impressions, clicks, and so much more.

To do this, pick a specific time period. For example, compare your followers in May and June.

Analyze top-performing posts

In order to build your account’s success, you must understand which are your top-performing posts. Once you discover this, it will be easier to identify what your audience is looking for. Rank your posts based on engagement, views, reach, and impressions, and create a short list of the top five or ten.

Once you have done that, try to find similarities or patterns. Perhaps they all had strong visuals? Maybe they included a video? Or were they more personal? If you notice something that works better, try to repeat the success.

Focus on reach and impressions

As you will notice, both Instagram and Facebook insights have a ton of different metrics. However, there are two that are especially important – impressions and reach. Reach on Instagram showcases how many people see your content. There is no difference whether they interact with it or view it many times.

Instagram impressions, on the other hand, are the number of times your post has been displayed to people on Instagram. It also includes repeat views.

Assess your audience

One of the best features of Facebook insights (and Instagram insights) is the information available about your audience. Thanks to the convenient tool, you can find out your followers’ age, gender, location, and interests.

By knowing this information, you will be able to create content that better fits their needs and wishes. Check for any spikes in following or unfollowing. Perhaps you have recently got more followers because you’ve made a specific type of content?

Remember that success on Instagram or Facebook won’t come in just one day. It is an ongoing process. You should always review your content, figure out what can be improved, and then – try once again. Using Facebook and Instagram insights can make the challenging task easier.
