Pivo Meets: Klabera Komini, Professional Figure Skater

Welcome to Pivo Meets, a series where we get real and chatty with the faces of Pivo.
This September, we have a little tête-à -tête with Klabera Komini.
A professional skater and fitness trainer, Klabera has been training since a young age. Having shot to fame with the show Dancing On Ice, she also established her venture – KKSkates – where she coaches online and has her own skating apparel.
As a professional skater, Klabera has travelled the world performing in TV shows, cruise ships and more. She was also crowned the winner of Dancing On Ice in Holland in 2020.
Here’s an insight of her successful career, how she has made Pivo a part of her training and all that she has to share with the world and her community.

What inspired you to pursue a career in figure skating?
From the second I started skating at age 11 – I was ALWAYS striving to do MORE. I would see the showgirls come through our rink & have so much confidence & personality & I KNEW I wanted that. Fast forward to 18 years old, I had to make some decisions. I wanted to see what I could do in this beautiful sport. I sent my demo into every producer I could & got my first contract at Seaworld Orlando. The rest is history 🙂
At what point in your career did you decide to start coaching?
Coaching started when I was 16 at the rink. I started in the learn to skate program teaching & then every time I would come home from contracts, I would pick up lessons here and there. I started to get into fitness at the same time as the two go hand in hand. I eventually got certified in many different disciplines (personal training, group training, sports performance, strength coach, etc.) When the time came to change careers a bit, I started training athletes & non athletes in person & I LOVED it.
What do you like the most about being a coach?
I love to be a part of the journey. I love to help others navigate through the ups & downs and see the wins but also help get through the hard part.
What sets KKSkates training app apart from the rest?
I have used my training techniques I have learned over the years to just keep it simple. You get the best results when you are consistently good. My programming allows any level & age to use it!
How has Pivo helped and transformed your online coaching sessions?
Pivo has helped me MASSIVELY! Some of my off ice filming requires me to move around – so the fact that Pivo follows me, makes this SO easy for self recording. Not to mention helped me with my content creation 🙂

How do you balance your business, coaching and content creation?
It is a puzzle! Some weeks are easier than others but finding a flow that works for me in the current season I am is what works the best. I have come to the realization that everything doesn’t always go as plans & I just need to GO WITH IT!
What is the major difference between Klabera 10 years ago and now?
I have learned how to get some down time. Klabera Komini of 10 years ago was SO all over the place & just doing all of the things with NO rest. Now I understand that while it is important to work hard, it is important to shut off & allow my body AND my mind to recover. It makes for better training & work later on.
How do you recommend new skaters and athletes get the best out of using Pivo in their training?
I would just start playing with it! Play with your Pivo on ice AND off ice and just have fun!
Apart from training and coaching, what role does Pivo play in your daily life as a content creator?
Pivo helps with my content creation so I am not relying on someone else to film me. I have an idea? GREAT. I don’t have to wait to film. That has been amazing for me!
Has coaching others evolved you as an athlete yourself?
1000000% YES. I think as a coach you need to consistently keep learning & you come to realize that different people need different coaching styles. I am ever evolving and I love it!
